Tanna Whitman
Tanna Whitman knew from a young age that she wanted a career focused on helping others. She earned degrees in psychology and sociology from Middlebury College, followed by a graduate degree in counseling psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and began her professional life as a counselor. During that time, she developed an interest in becoming a plaintiff’s attorney. After graduating from the University of Minnesota Law School and clerking for a federal magistrate judge, Tanna joined a Minnesota firm practicing personal injury and workers’ compensation law.
A military transfer brought Tanna to Maine and to the Law Offices of Joe Bornstein, where she initially represented clients in Social Security disability claims. In 2012, she transitioned into personal injury law and has been advocating for injured Mainers ever since.
Tanna understands that when someone is hurt through no fault of their own, the aftermath can feel overwhelming. Beyond handling insurance companies, medical billing issues, and settlement negotiations, she believes one of the most important parts of her role is helping clients understand the claims process so they know what to expect. She is committed to clear communication, responsiveness, and working collaboratively with clients toward resolution. She also enjoys using her research and writing skills to build strong, effective claims.
Outside of work, Tanna enjoys spending time outdoors around Brunswick with her dog, Klaus, cooking, reading mystery and spy novels, cheering on the Boston Bruins and Portland Hearts of Pine, and exploring all that Maine has to offer.
