Motorcycle Safety Tips from Riders to Riders

Motorcycle safety matters. And riders we know take their safety seriously. Over the years, we’ve picked up some useful advice from riders about what bikers can do to stay safe on the road.

Here are some of our tried and true motorcycle safety tips designed to help you make it safely to your next destination. Because wherever you’re headed, it’s always important to make staying safe on the road your first priority:

  • Before each ride, always check your motorcycle.
  • Make sure your bike’s brakes, clutch, and throttle work.
  • Bring a first aid kit and tool pouch with you on your bike at all times.
  • Check the weather before heading out on a ride.
  • Wear protective gear whenever possible.
  • Be visible and ride with your motorcycle lights on.
  • Keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
  • Consider taking a rider safety refresher course.

Popular Maine Motorcycle Routes

Motorcycling in Maine can be an amazing way to see some of the most beautiful parts of the state. Below, we have included some of our favorite motorcycling routes in Maine based on rides we have taken or rides recommended by experienced bikers we know in Maine.

Maine has some of the most beautiful roads for motorcycling, including:

  • Historic Route 1 Coastal Route: This classic bucket list ride for many bikers starts at the Maine-Canada border in Fort Kent, Maine. From there, the Route 1 coastal route takes bikers 2,369 miles to the southern tip of Florida in Key West.
  • Rangeley Lakes Scenic Byway: This winding ride on State Route 17 and Route 4 takes bikers onto two scenic overlooks past lakes, mountains, and streams in this rugged western part of the state near Rangeley Lake. No wonder this winding route has been designated a National Scenic Byway.
  • Acadia National Park Loop: At 27 miles long, this route through Acadia National Park packs a lot of scenic spots into a short distance. The one-way road through Maine’s only national park takes bikers past mountains, rugged coastline, and through dense forests, plus popular park attractions like Cadillac Mountain and Thunder Hole, a dramatic rock formation where waves crash along the shore at high tide.
  • Northern Route 201: This scenic route follows US Route 201 through the Kennebec River Valley from Brunswick to the Canadian border. Known as the “Old Canada Route,” be prepared to see plenty of wildlife (especially moose) and small, charming Maine towns on this National Scenic Byway along portions of the Kennebec River.

Wherever your next motorcycle ride takes you in Maine, riders know they can count on us to be there for them whenever they need us most. To learn more about how a Maine motorcycle accident lawyer at our firm can help you, simply contact us. Maine riders know that Joe is on their side.
