The "Lemon Law" in Maine is intended to protect consumers from purchasing a motor vehicle that might appear at first to be functioning but is in fact defective. If a substantial defect arises without fault from the owner, the Lemon Law does allow the manufacturer or dealer an opportunity to repair the defect.

The manufacturer, its agent or authorized dealer is allowed a "reasonable number of attempts" to repair the substantial defect. In general, this means the repair is attempted three or more times for the same substantial defect, or the repair attempts result in the vehicle being out of service for a cumulative total of 15 or more business days.

If the repairs are not successful, the purchaser has the right to bring the case before the State Arbitrator. If you have not been able to have your concerns addressed by a dealer about the vehicle you purchased, we may be able to help in your Lemon Law case.

If your new car does not run correctly, you might be entitled to compensation under the Lemon Law. Call Joe today.
